Job Description
Most of the Translator’s work is to facilitate communication between parents and school staff. Education-related papers are translated and a specific lexicon is maintained by the incumbent(s).

Qualifications:
- Temporary employee assessment results, hours worked, training status, and other relevant data are stored and maintained in a database.
- Researches medical and technical terminology in both the source language and the target language to make sure that both can be understood and that the translations are correct.
- Ensure accurate translation of textual materials such as flyer, social media posts, district wide announcements/press releases, and other types of documents into any language.
- Open and sort mail; create purchase order requisitions; verify and prepare invoice and stipend for payment; answer phone calls, welcome visitors, answer general inquiries; prepare purchase orders; prepare invoice and stipend for payment
- School gatherings, such as parent-teacher conferences, may include conversations concerning kids’ academic achievement, disciplinary difficulties, and other sensitive matters. Interpretation services are provided for these sessions.
- Edits translations completed by other District workers. Assists in the training of District workers and consultants that provide translation services to schools.
- Geopolitical, regional, ethnic and cultural qualities may be captured in the text. It is common for the translator to use words and expressions that are compatible with the target language (TL) norms and forms of expression particular to the subject area (s).
- Use reference resources to your advantage. A solid understanding of Microsoft Office, as well as basic internet skills, are required to produce written translations and commodities.
- Every document produced by the district is accessible in a variety of languages, from forms to school bulletins to medical alerts and legal documents.
- Inspect translations to ensure they are full and accurate, and that no changes or omissions are made to the original language, its original meaning, or the original mood and intent.
Skills:
- It is vital to be able to converse successfully in two languages at the native speaker level, as well as to be aware of the cultural context in which those languages are spoken.
- Engaging and encouraging communication skills when communicating with supervisors, employees, students, and others in order to communicate information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Foreign Language, or comparable discipline, or equivalence, as well as proven human connection and good writing and spoken communication abilities, are essential.
- When interpreting in school and community contexts, you must have a valid driver’s license and be ready to utilize your own vehicle.
