A cook is a trained chef who has worked in a professional kitchen and can prepare a variety of dishes. This job serves as the lead cook for each site while the on-duty Chef or Sous Chefs are gone, and it may also undertake basic supervisory duties. A cook is in charge of preparing outstanding cuisine for guest restaurants, staff dining rooms, and catered special occasions. Qualifications:
- Create monthly and annual cash flow forecasts, as well as short- and long-term cash handling plans.
- Maintains cleanliness and order in all kitchen spaces, including storage shelves, passageways, workstations, walk-ins, refrigerators, and coolers.
- Meets scheduling availability needs, including nights, weekends, and holiday times, in order to satisfy company expectations.
- A cook is responsible for setting up, food preparation, organization, sanitation, food and beverage item manufacturing, as well as closing and storing individual work stations.
- Lifting up to 20 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 40 pounds, and carrying up to 30 pounds are all necessary, as well as frequent standing and walking.
- Tastes products, analyses menus, estimates food requirements, verifies output, and maintains records in order to precisely plan production needs and buy supplies and equipment.
- Assist with cleaning equipment and dishwashing machines as needed to ensure the cleanliness of all kitchen areas, tools, and utensils.
- If the Head Chef or Sous Chef are not available, assumes leadership responsibility for ensuring safe and efficient kitchen operations.
- The Cook must be careful, well-dressed, professional, and work effectively as part of a team.
- Following the Executive Chef’s directions, prepare high-quality hot and cold meals.
Skills:
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent; a culinary degree is preferable.
- Must adhere to all state and executive chef-issued health department and food safety requirements, including HACCP and ServSafe concepts.
- If you are 18 years old or older, you must be able to pass a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, prior employer, education, and personal references, unless federal, state, or provincial legislation prevents it.
- Possess the ability to focus and collaborate with a variety of supervisors.
- Cooking experience in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen for at least one year is required.
