Our company is searching for a motivated Forester with previous work experience to join our team responsible for natural resource management. The Forester provides direct assistance to the Senior Resource Forester in a wide range of tasks and responsibilities across all aspects of the industrial forest’s operations. The Forester reports to the Senior Resource Forester. The Forester will be part of a small team of workers that will be engaged in all parts of the company’s natural resource management in order to meet or surpass the company’s yearly objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Create new outreach materials to promote diverse forestry projects by re-evaluating and updating forestry websites.
  • Assisting with all aspects of silviculture, forest management, and harvest monitoring on business or private holdings.
  • Tree and landscaping inspections are aided and participated in by municipal employees. You must make certain that all relevant procedures for protecting existing plants and installing new ones have been followed, as well as ensuring that adequate measures have been put in place for their upkeep and care.
  • To ensure the implementation of the regional silviculture strategy and annual plan, field-verification of treatment candidates and provision of setting specific recon information to management, silviculture contract negotiation, silviculture operation supervision, timely status updates for system activity updates and monitoring of contract performance, such as safety and SFI/EMP.
  • Other jobs may be allocated, such as those assigned at the beginning and middle of a rotation, contract administration, and other obligations.
  • Maintain the health and safety of the City’s tree stock and educate other Streets Division employees on appropriate tree care procedures.
  • Verifies the accuracy of information contained in submitted plans for landscaping, tree removal, and site clearing by coordinating with lower-level inspectors, reviewing factors, and granting or denying applications; notifying applicants in writing of reasons for denial; and assigning and taking part in site clearing inspections.
  • So that other disciplines’ code requirements are completed without interfering with the tree and landscape code, site plan review personnel (from stormwater, zoning and transportation) interact with one another throughout the review process.
  • It is possible that crop sale administration responsibilities include checking or putting up the year-round thin and harvest schedule, road design, and access rights of ways.
  • Assess the state of county-owned forestland and assist in the development of forest stewardship plans that will aid in the management of the land in the future. We collect and analyze data from the field as part of our job responsibilities. This assists us in determining how the forest is structured. Working with personnel and contractors is required in order to utilize the Forest Landscape Assessment Tool (FLAT). It may be used to examine the condition of any forestland parcels that have recently been purchased or that are in the process of being purchased.

Skills:

  • Establish and manage effective tree and landscape inspection programs, execute inspections and detect pathological plant problems while working outdoors, educate staff in plant disease diagnosis and other activities as assigned. Check to see if any trees that have been harmed by disease may be saved. Determine whether or not a landscape design should be approved or rejected by looking at it closely. The enforcement of codes, laws, and regulations must be done with firmness, tact, and impartiality.
  • All applicants must have at least six months of experience in the field of landscape design and six months of experience in tree and landscape inspections from an accredited college or university, as well as six months of experience in the field of landscape design and six months of experience in tree and landscape inspections
  • You must be able to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with employees, departments, and members of the general public..
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, is necessary, as are effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Planting, pruning, disease inspection, and disease elimination all need extensive knowledge of tree care. include a good knowledge of the different tree-care techniques.
