Job Description
To be a Rigger, you must know how to replace crane boom and cable, safety rules for ladders and scaffolds, how to read blueprints and understand basic electrical safety. All riggers should be certified by a nationally recognized body such as NCCER. Must study and grasp all work-related safety risks and how to use or operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently. Work at a factory or on a building site.

Qualifications:
- This position requires strict adherence to company policies on on-time arrival, attendance, and absence reporting in order to be successful.
- Loads are fastened to rigging using hand and power tools in order to give support or allow them to be moved.
- Inspects and maintains various forms of rigging equipment such as planks, fiber and wire ropes, chains, and swing scaffolds.
- Individuals involved in lifting and transporting goods are given signals or verbal directions to safeguard the safety of personnel and materials.
- Head blocks, sheaves, winches, counterweighted, and dead-hanging system components are tested and drilled and fastened.
- The scope of work includes the installation of hardware to existing structures, hanging pipes, beams, or tracks, and hardware to concrete, steel, wood, and block walls.
- When it comes to rigging installation, individual initiative and judgment are crucial, but teamwork is just as important.
- Large lifting equipment must be set up and secured with the use of pulley, rope, and a hoist by a rigger. Performs physical labor as part of one’s job duties.
- The usage of safety gear and climbing are often necessary while operating at a height of twelve to sixty feet above the ground
- Arranges for the safe lifting and lowering of various supplies, machinery, and/or equipment to and from working platforms, vehicles, streets, floors, and other levels of buildings or vessels.
Skills:
- Infrequently lift 10 lbs., while standing, climbing, and constantly using your hands.
- Five years of full-time experience as a Rigger in the last ten years fulfilling the tasks and obligations outlined in the Duties and Responsibilities section.
- A valid state-issued driver’s license is essential for DOT appointments, and it must be maintained during the course of work.
- In order to be appointed, candidates must pass a drug test. During the course of their work, riggers are exposed to random drug and alcohol testing.
- The employee is expected to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, squat, and/or sit on a frequent basis when performing the tasks of this job.
